** How is your Garden Growing:
Featuring Selma Held
------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know the park and gardens are named after Mrs. Selma Held (1921-2009), who was the driving force behind getting the vacant lot turned into something special.
She did it because of "the idea that volunteers knit together a community -- that neighbors helping neighbors is the basic building blocks of progressive momentum."
Thank you Linda Nelson for giving me a little tour of the gardens, and helping me get in the gate!

HCG's Partner AERO (http://helenagardens.us4.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=3360ec23368a138bea764d654&id=80fd134cdd&e=c68c994898) is gearing up for their 2016 Expo and Annual Meeting! Please check out the flyr and pass this information on; it is going to be a fabulous event!

Helena Area Transit Service (http://helenagardens.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3360ec23368a138bea764d654&id=358d45e6e2&e=c68c994898) is going to add two new fixed routes (one east-to-west, one north-to-south) by the middle of October (pending all ADA upgrades finished and all drivers trained on new equipment before they can launch the new routes). Their goal is to have each route take 30 minutes to complete.
They will keep their paratransit system in place (they currently have 500 people who use that system, and they have a new online application for getting included in this service). For the time being, they will not be adding weekend, holiday, or evening hours.
They also are changing their name to Capital Transit and getting their buses painted in a new dark blue. Their new website is www.ridethecapitalt.org (http://helenagardens.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3360ec23368a138bea764d654&id=3dd1f87098&e=c68c994898) .
Prices and hours will remain the same, with a slight evening extension (to about 6:15) to make sure that each bus completes its full route.
