The GROWW coordinator position is created and funded by a community partnership including Madison Farm to Fork (MF2F), Madison Conservation District (MCD), Madison Valley Ranchlands Group (MVRG), Madison River Foundation (MRF), and Ennis School District (ESD). The position is a result of four years of work in the school system by two AmeriCorps positions: Food Corps (sponsored by MF2F and ESD) and Big Sky Watershed Corps (sponsored by MCD). These positions successfully established a secure foundation of curriculum in the school system, supported by administration, teachers, and parents.

As a result of the accomplishments created in the school and with the Good Thymes Summer Camp, there is a need to provide support for these efforts to continue. The GROWW coordinator position would allow the legacy of these successes to carry on, without the risks and limitations of AmeriCorps programs.

 

Summary of Position

The sponsoring partners are hiring an education coordinator position to provide necessary support for garden, natural resources, outdoor, watershed, and wildlife programs in partnership with Ennis School District and hopefully in adjacent school districts. While this is a newly created position, the curriculum, infrastructure (school garden), and local support are already in place and embraced by the school system and community. The position will be responsible for conducting education activities in classrooms and garden; field trips to local farms, rivers, forests and National Parks; teacher workshops; the Good Thymes Summer Camp and occasional events.

 

Position Details

The position will require an average of 20 hours/week, 46 weeks of the year. The actual hours may vary from 1 to 40 hours per week depending on activities. With successful additional funding, the position will expand to 35 hours/week, 46 weeks of the year. Program work in the school system will cease from Thanksgiving through the first week in January. The position will be paid $15.00 per hour.

 

Paid time off and health insurance are not provided. During the summer, this position will serve as Director for Good Thymes Camp (GTC) and be responsible for maintaining the Outdoor Classroom (School Garden) facility. The position will report to Ennis School Board and the Good Thymes Camp Organizing entities
