Learn the fundamentals of permaculture design and how it can help you live
a healthier, more abundant life. The workshop is a mixture of theory and
practice and covers: 1) permaculture ethics, principles and practical
design tools for reducing water use, cycling nutrients and growing food, 2)
specific strategies and techniques such creating plant communities and
rainwater harvesting and 3) design ideas and spring prep for your yard and
garden.

Sabo Ranch, Harrison (50 miles from Bozeman)
Cost - $75 (includes lunch), children under 12 are free

Jenny Sabo of Sabo Ranch will teach you what goes into caring for and
milking a family cow, how much land, shelter and food is required, how to
choose a good "starter" cow, and how to raise a healthy calf. The day will
also include a session on making butter, yogurt, kefir, and whey. This
full-day workshop will be packed with useful information about milking,
maintenance, health, feeding, breeding, and selection as well as include
some great recipes to take home with you. Space is limited so reserve your
spot early!

The Edible Backyards workshop series will teach you how to design a
productive landscape right outside your backdoor. Incorporating the
principles of permaculture (a design science for sustainable human
settlement), this workshop will cover specific design techniques for
vegetable gardens as well as starting from seed, succession planting, sheet
mulching, composting, polycultures and more. More than just a gardening
class, this workshop will help you design a more efficient, productive and
beautiful backyard space!

Cost - $20

Broken Ground will offer a workshop covering the basics of backyard
composting. Come learn the fundamentals of building a good compost pile,
materials you can and can not compost, different composting systems,
including worm bins, as well as tips and tricks for cold climate
composting. This workshop is hands-on so come prepared to get your hands
dirty!
