(HELENA) - Today, Montana's First Lady, Nancy Schweitzer announced an online voting contest to select a new set of Math & Science trading cards. The First Lady invited students, teachers, and the public to participate by voting online for up to 10 of their favorite Montana math and science facts. This year's set of trading cards share facts about Montana food, nutrition, and agriculture. The contest can be accessed online at mathscience.mt.gov<http://www.mathscience.mt.gov> and voting is open through September 16.

The First Lady distributes the cards when traveling to classrooms across the state as part of the Governor and First Lady's Math & Science Initiative. "Kids of all ages can find something new to learn about Montana's diverse agricultural industry, and we also share facts about the nutrition of foods grown in Montana," said the First Lady. "Ultimately, the voting contest lets kids decide what's most interesting about our state."

The Governor and First Lady's Math and Science Initiative invites Montana's youth to discover the many opportunities to learn about science and math in K-12 schools and higher education, find out about career opportunities and explore Montana's splendid surroundings. The theme of this year's trading cards are a continuation of Nancy's Garden<http://www.mathscience.mt.gov/pages/nancysgarden.htm> - a set of classroom gardening materials distributed to 4th grade classrooms this spring.
