ANNOUNCEMENT
OF A REQUEST FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED TO THE
MONTANA FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER PROGRAM
The Montana Department of Agriculture is seeking proposals for business and economic development technical assistance geared specifically helping Montana meet more of its food and renewable energy needs.

The Montana Legislature authorized $195,000 per year in the current biennium to fund four Food and Agricultural Development Centers to help increase the capacity of Montana's farmers, ranchers and other Montana entrepreneurs to produce food and value-added agricultural products, including farm-derived renewable energy.

The purpose of this request is to identify the fourth center. Among otherwise equally qualified applicants, preference will be given for food science/technology capacity, including professional personnel and facilities for food product testing and development.

Applicants must be Certified Regional Development Corporations or nonprofit organizations that serve at least a four-county region and existed prior to Jan. 1, 2009. The current centers are in Ronan in western Montana, Havre in north central Montana, and Joliet in south central Montana.

The request for proposals can be found at http://agr.mt.gov/foodandag/

The deadline for proposals to operate the fourth center is October 14, 2011. For more information, contact Collin Watters at the department at (406) 444-2402 or by e-mail at agr at mt.gov<mailto:agr at mt.gov>.
