Food Day Event in Billings
The Billings Area Food Policy Council (BAFPC) is hosting a forum in conjunction with National Food Day entitled "Fresh Thoughts on Food in the Magic City" on Saturday, October 22nd in the UC Ballroom of Montana State University-Billings.
Join us to learn about local food issues and community food security in the Billings area, share your own experiences, and learn how we can work together to promote local food, and end food insecurity in our community. The event is free to the public with a $5 suggested donation for a lunch featuring Montana producers. Register online at www.foodday.org.
Schedule of Events:
8:15am- Registration Opens
9:00am- screening of the film "Fresh"
10:30am- Break time, door prize giveaway
10:45am- Presentations by Montana FoodCorps, Canyon Creek School Garden, St. Andrew's Community Garden, BackPack Meal Program/Emergency Assistance, Healthy By Design/Healthy Communities
12:00pm-- Local Lunch featuring Montana producers ($5.00 suggested donation)
12:45pm- Keynote speaker Jessica Williams, Food and Nutrition Manager of Livingston Healthcare
1:45pm- Doorprize giveaway
2:00pm- Panel Discussion and audience interaction with local producers, city officials, and neightboring community members: discuss actions steps to increase local food production and community food security
3:00pm- Closing Remarks and Call to Action
